At Blumenberry Farms, we are committed to serving our community by always providing the absolute best food possible to Sarasota/Manatee. For us, this means always taking the utmost care with our produce. Whether it be scouting our fields for pests, so that we can use the least invasive forms of pest control possible, using manure based fertilizers to rejuvenate our fields between plantings, or carefully monitoring our water supply—we go out of our way to grow the best because we want the best for ourselves and our families!
You can feel secure in knowing that you are receiving a safe, healthy, and absolutely delicious product from us. At Blumenberry Farms we follow National Organic Standards, and are Certified Organic by QCS. We have been Certified Organic for 25 years, and are one of the original Organic Farms in the Sarasota-Bradenton Area.
We believe in Organic Farming for many reasons:
We prefer to use natural remedies for pest mediation. This typically entails physically removing the insects/eggs from the field, or using a biological pesticide when necessary.
We prefer to use natural fertilizers, produced from manures, plants, minerals, and meat industry leftovers to properly balance our soils with all the nutrients and minerals our plants need to be healthy and beautiful.
We believe that plants grown in ideal conditions, resembling nature, which make for the tastiest crops.
We believe in treating our animals humanely—always providing the highest quality feed, water, and ideal spaces for them to enjoy, so that they, too, can provide us with the best quality food possible.
We believe in using our resources responsibly, which includes our water, soil, fertilizers and pesticides. We understand that by using less of these inputs, we are promoting their continued effectiveness, and limiting the amount of fertilizers and pesticides in our air, water and soil.
Furthermore, we support local organic agriculture because it helps minimize the amount fossil fuel necessary to get delicious produce to happy customers.
